The stage 1 is now onboard of my 900/II since more than 50.000 miles. It came in at 175000 miles on the clock. The power differs between very good and normal. I am changing the solenoid valve and there is no difference. The average fuelconsumption I found is between 10,5 ltr/100 km an 11.2 ltr/100km. Going high speed (400km in 2:15 h /german autobahn at nighttime) I counted the maximum consumption with 25 ltr/100km. I recently had a camshaftdrive renewal. We found the engine in a very good condition. The piston as well as the cylinderhead.
The biggest problem is that the step 1 is only a first step (like the name told) to gain more power, caused to the making of adiction, aspecially when hustling with Turbodiesels on a german autobahn. It should be recommended that the crossflow IC is a must when someboby upgrates the car, as well as the EBC brakes with the greenstuff pads (or another more powerful braking system). I was suprised that the SAAB brakes don´t stand more than only TWO!! brakes from nearly 250 km/h to 100 km/h without loosing 50% of the capability.
If you buy an upgrate first think of your suspension / brakes / and engine temperature. If you´ve done that have fun.
